Note from Elena: Clark L. Corey has given permission for me to post his declaration: Committee for Correspondence: Join in Saving Our Society and to quote at length from his book _A Guide to Exuberant Living_. The declaration follows with book ordering information. Clark's book deals with society, culture, history and the lies we have been told, language, family and what to do to reclaim our nation. After picking out many passages to share, I realized that Clark's introduction would give you a basic knowledge of what his concerns are, and then I can cite portions of his book in later topic specific essays. Clark's biographical information is at the end of this page. In his book, Clark is very polite, but does not shirk from candor.
Committee for Correspondence: Join in Saving Our Society Stop complaining and cease pleading to renegades in government and media who have destroyed rule-of-law, who deny any "intent" to our Constitution, make us second-class citizens, flood our country with aliens, and corrupt our schools, families and our culture. Learn, organize and act. The first Committee of Correspondence was created in 1772 with P. Henry, T. Jefferson and R. H. Lee as members. By 1774, twelve colonies had such committees; their function was (1) to organize and to draw together in a common understanding, (2) to develop a common strategy and (3) to promote and organize concerted action. Ubi libertas ibi partria. (Elena's note: should partria be patria ?) Jefferson in his later years recognized that the Founders had provided inadequate channels for the people to exercise self-government. He urged them to form into an organization of "wards", much like cells, which would act as centers for coordinated study, planning, and for action. The struggle today is not basically political, or even cultural, though both are certainly involved. Religion is essentially institutionalized social purpose, and the real struggle is over the purpose of people. Are we to be subjugated into a sub-human tutelage to the State, or are we to recover our freedom in self-government? There is no middle way. An "evil party" of "overhead planners" had subversively taken control of our "Establishment", Walter Lippmann declared in 1936. Their intent was to destroy education for self-government, rule-of-law, and our culture, so Statism might come to power. Allen Bloom has warned that the intellectual elite intended to destroy our culture--and thereby our human society, and Nobel ethologist Konrad Lorenz has written of _The Waning of Humanness_ (both in mid-1980's). The State seeks to absorb all power, while destroying all bulwarks against it: rule-of-law, families and private associations, religion and private property. People "surrender exercise of their own will...(their) spirit is broken...gradually losing the faculties of thinking, feeling, and acting...gradually falling below the level of humanity". So warned Tocqueville. Even the great liberal J.S. Mill noted the danger of giving power to the State. But the State is not evil; it is but a machine, as efficient for doing evil as good. The enemy is an "evil party', the Establishment that controls the State; it controls the media, the courts, the bureaucracy--in government and out--in publishing and entertainment, in academia and arts, even much of religion's hierarchy. Over the past five years attempts have been pushed to strangle our freedom with regulations such as the nationalization of health, nationalization of education, of police, law , families, and thought. Savage raids by assault forces, numbering in the hundreds, have been made on peaceful citizens. Powerful and well funded efforts undercut all attempts to limit the alien flood which is submerging our society and culture. Now an exponential rise in the number of unwed white mothers is following that of blacks. We must draw together into Jefferson's "ward", with all who will fight to save our human society from Statist's fascism, (to save) our culture from renegades who would destroy "that knowledge which a generation gives to its successors, that they might at least keep up if not rise..." (J. S. Mill's definition of culture). We must act immediately:
This can be accomplished by recognizing that our enemy is the "evil party" that controls the media and entertainment and thereby all else. We can get around it through the thousands of organizations throughout the country that are against Statism and for human society. These must act as Committees for Correspondence. Such an effort will constitute a new social core. Its principal external arm, beyond its own internal organization, will be control through the House by impeachments and budget. Cut all tax money going to the left. The House of Representatives is the right arm of the people; there must be a Committee working in every Congressional District, identifying and supporting a candidate of either party who will fight for the above four essential issues. To comprehend the many aspects of society, culture, and our problems, send for copies of _A GUIDE FOR EXUBERANT LIVING_ and get study and action groups working. If you cannot afford the low price of $14.95 paper or $24.95 hardback, a copy will be sent free to a group of ten, who claim so and who send in their names and $3.00 for shipping and handling: Committee For Correspondence 30% off for orders of 10 or more.

Introduction | |
Thinking back into the past, the writer hesitated with his pen. He recalled long ago standing at the side of a great commander as they watched the destruction of a beautiful city. His own country had fallen when he was a young man; taken as a hostage, he had been befriended and educated by the commander's family. Throughout his life, he had observed the ways of these people. Words finally came. "Who is so worthless and indolent, as not to wish to know by what means and under what system these people in less than fifty years have succeeded in subjugating the entire world to their purpose--a thing unique in history? Who can regard anything of greater moment than the acquisition of this knowledge?" Such was written over two thousand years ago about the Romans. Some twenty-five years ago a scholarly journalist wrote, "As an eyewitness throughout the years (1933-1967), I formed the opinion that the United States merits the dubious distinction of having discarded its past and its meaning in one of the briefest spans of modern history." Since then the genocidal, deliberate and systematic destruction of our culture and society has continued with even less resistance. Huge sections of our great cities have been Lebanized into Third Worlds--Beiruts. Our government has been occupied by jackals and jackasses and run by crooks, cons and renegades. Our schools are a world disgrace. Aliens and wastrels demand rights ahead of the essential needs of our society. Crime and obscenities, alien enclaves, and destruction of families make social coherence and limited government impossible. Our accustomed liberties cannot exist without a prudent morality, a guiding purpose, and rule of law. Without these, only Statism (fascism) can keep order. This corruption of all things decent must be halted and our human society rebuilt. Your life and that of your children and the life of your society, from which you receive all joy and all real protection and meaning, must be revived, and it can be through a renewal of purpose. As nothing is more disastrous than to lose all purpose, so nothing can be more exhilarating than getting it back. Lenin himself assured us that "No situation is so bad it cannot be saved.". Motivation can come only through understanding; rational and effective action must be guided by a great purpose.l And what could be more admirable than the rebuilding of our human society and Western culture? The purpose of this Guide, is to urge all people to comprehend the urgency, and to indicate how to rebuild. Nobelist Konrad Lorenz has asserted that, "The progressive decay of our civilization is pathological in nature," and any attempt at recovery must be based on a comprehension of the working of society, and of its nemesis--Statism. This is a task for which ordinary people must grasp the nettle and assume responsibility. The bureaucratic network that controls the media, academia, and government, even many churches, will sneer and snarl to divert you, but don't be dismayed. Most great human movements have been carried out against an entrenched elite. If you are going to be ashamed of your ancestors and your heritage of struggle for freedom and dignity, you are already dead. To face ridicule requires not so much bravery as a comprehension of the situation. That is the key to motivation, and it will come as indignation comes, with an awareness of the renegade forces that arrogantly seek to uproot all that human beings cherish and have struggled thousands of years to achieve. Purpose and morality, truth and honor, love and beauty, and all the spiritual chords on which ride hope and bursting joy: these are the great generators of coherence and identification in a human society. There is a war of subversion that has been going on for many years against human society and, if you don't join the fight to stop it, you are certain to be "used" to help destroy it. Arise, you have the opportunity of the ages to be a part of a truly noble effort. Conviction, like truth and morality, arises from purpose. Purpose grows on understanding. Knowledge of the true nature of man, of human society, and of the threat of its strangulation by Statism will provide the guidance. Our poet, Lowell, has given us assurance, "Amid all the fruitless turmoil and miscarriage of the world, if there be one thing steadfast and of favorable omen, it is the rooted instinct in men to admire...to admire what is better." To rise up is the rule of life. Lowell adds that it is the touchstone of a society to provide that which is worthy of this sentiment. What could be more worthy than the rebuilding of our human society? The struggle going on between human society and Statism has no middle ground, no third way, as Lenin also insisted. People must be sparked like an engine, motivated to move, to work or struggle. They can be moved by the vision of a great and admirable purpose which can make a joy of all of life, or they will be moved by the knout of terror. There is no middle way.
Thesis--An Opportunity The very mark of this century has been the holocausts, crushing some 100 million souls. And they are not over, for they are a natural product of Statism which still flourishes throughout the world, nowhere more virulently than in Washington, in our media and universities. People have evolved only two ways to organize their cooperative activities; there is no third way. Human society is voluntary; it has a free market and a constitution of consent, and controls through award of respect. Statism is tutelage to an elite, it coerces through indoctrination backed be fear. People must be motivated to exert themselves; in human society it is by award of respect and so by self-interest. Under Statism, only the forbearance of the powerful stands between the naked individual and terror. The great evil of today that must be defeated is the renegade corrupting of human decency, of human society, so that Statism may take over. Holocausts take only lives; far worse if the Statist's uprooting and destruction of all humanness, all that is driven by respect and a desire to be better: decency, personal responsibility, and rationality itself. Statists Anthony Lewis and the New York Times denounced even criticism of the most brutal of all the holocausts, that in Cambodia, as "cultural arrogance". And the renegade establishment that largely rules media, education, entertainment, much of our government and, even churches, never questioned them. Statists claim that there is no right or wrong, good or bad, no reason for respect or contempt--only preferences. John Rawl's _Theory of Justice_, that would have the State outlaw contempt, is answered by Allen Bloom: "This folly means that men (must no) seek the natural human good, (nor) admire it when found...instinct and intellect must be suppressed."1 The flow is downhill, in all things; the normal is rejected for the abnormal, the inhuman. This can be reversed only with a great purpose which demands a right with respect and a wrong with contempt. Why? Why reject respect? Why dumb-down schools, skimping on language and arithmetic for studies in sex, masturbation and sodomy, and the evils of white men? Why has the tax exemption for children dropped to about one-fourth of the 1950-60 value? Why are mothers forced to work while we pay tens of billions to louts and aliens? Why are churches, the traditional teacher of morals and social purposes, pushed from the public square? Why is immigration virtually unchecked as we stagger towards Lebanization, our great cities fast becoming Beiruts, teeming with uncompromisable dissonance? Why? Bloom gave the answer quite openly. It was the "purpose". the very intent of the intellectuals of this century to destroy our culture, our civilization, all that holds together our human society. Now our great universities proclaim it every day; their Deans find more guidance in the mad terrorist, Fanon, "kill the white man and enslave his women", than in Locke, a founder of modern democracy. When human society has been beaten down, Rule of Law rejected renegade courts, families destroyed, language corrupted, hatred and violence rampant, only in this chaos can Statism enter, as only terror can then regain order. Fascism of the intellectuals is the goal. This is the war of subversion, of lies and irrationalities of Marxism's "taught hatred" for all humanness that is waged so ruthlessly in Washington, New York, Hollywood, in our universities and schools. If anything, it has been intensified since the fall of socialism. Actually the struggle is more massacre than war, with society being raped while people look on like eunuchs, not comprehending what is going on, not knowing how to resist, or too wimpish to try. But understanding can provide the indignation to motivate action. Many people and organizations are already in the field. Thomas Jefferson has told us how to proceed. He recognized, in later years, that an important link between the people and their government (2) has been left out of our Founder's plan. He proposed that the people coalesce into local "wards"; these would provide media-uncensored news and information, and an opportunity for education and discussions for reaching agreements on actions. Above these would be correlating councils; thus would be provided an organization, a core, necessary to execute purposes. Such groups have been used throughout history; the ekklesia of the early Christians, the Jacobin Clubs of the French Revolution and the "cells" of communists are examples. The number of truly active socialist-communists in these cells was astoundingly small, compared to the gigantic feats that they accomplished with their host of liberal jackals, in destroying American. So American must immediately organize into a network of interconnected wards and rebuild. We must act quickly, it is not too late. If only say 12,000 real leaders arose, who firmly believed in saving Western human society and were cognizant of its danger (Elena note: I believe he means the danger that it is in), although a dozen times that many ought to be available; each could search out and convince a score or more or other leaders: in industry, in unions, churches, senior groups, youth groups, especially veterans' groups, private clubs, schools, Kiwanis. And each should begin immediately to gather members for a ward, even as searching for new leaders for other wards. A purpose of the wards would be in a sense to make each member also a leader. Everyone rise up! Especially the youth. Tens of millions of people could be mobilized in a short time. The three tasks of the wards are: motivation through understanding the truth, action to gain control of our society and, most important, but longer term, planning for the beginning of a new human community. Nothing is more important for a free people than active participation in their own governance. You have truly been chosen by time to participate in a great movement--as spiritual as the creation of Christianity, as intellectual as the beginning the Age of Reason, and as active as the settling of American--to rebuild our human society. The Age of Reason has degenerated into an Age of Irrationality. Reason is a far more dangerous tool than nuclear power, but it is from our Creator, and we must lean how to use it, or the dregs of mankind will use it against all humanness. People have deep spiritual needs that arise from innate social "forces"; in fact, it was in searching for an understanding of these spiritual feelings that our ancestors developed science and philosophy. Earnestly accept this opportunity and your life will come alive with the hope and joy of struggling in an admirable purpose: to bring decency and humanness back to our society--to rise up. Young people, did you ever wonder who might bury you? Does the possibility ever bother you that some Beruitized L.A. street many, in a few years, be decorated with your dog-gnarled body? That weight ought not overload your TVed brains. But instead, think of the possibilities, the honor and joy of doing and having a real and permanent part in turning Western human society away from certain catastrophe, and lifting it up to anew level of humanness. Many your people are ready and needed. Seniors, what do you think is to become of your grandchildren? You have seen how quickly all things sold and precious have been crumpled, gutted. Who do you think will bury them, or on what shattered street will their broken bodies lie? I know this is on your minds. Boomers, you are old enough to be acutely aware of the degradation, the corruption that has poisoned our society especially since the 1960s. Yours is the most favored generation that ever lived, and what have you done? You know that the world is ruled wither by human decency or by the force of terror. Humanness is decency, truth, and loyalty: loyalty to a family and community, with spiritual bonds that can grab your very soul, as in homesickness or conscience. When children grow up with "day care", without fathers and with squats for mothers, schools become clientized centers for State indoctrination; when truth is denied everywhere, and decency and modesty jeered, when Rule of Law is pushed aside by bureaucratic courts, only the terror of fascist Statism can regain order. Young and old people may become enthusiastic about fighting back to a human society, but only you boomers have the numbers, the positions, and the strength to do the job quickly. Study the facts about what went wrong; if you don't like what I have written read the references--many before 1960; there have been so many lies since then. Excuse the man quotes; I'm not a scholar. Besides you need comprehend not what I think but what has been thought and believed through the ages. Tradition is truth through repeated testing. You woe this effort of the human society that you uncomprehendingly were accomplices in bashing. Look to your end. Veterans, never to be forgotten! How shameful are the obscene fruits of our struggle. We would never have gone to WW II or any of the others, had we known. But now you are needed to correct the wrong. We need only the truth; make the truth be known in every school, every church, every veterans post. "Steady now, we have seen worse." To all Americans, all people of the West: a Nobel scientist has warned, "The progressive decay of our civilization is pathological...shows the symptoms of mental sickness...concerns man's social and moral behavior...understanding the causes requires us to break down the barrier between humanities and science..." (3) We can see it, and the time is late. It is a priceless opportunity and a honor crusade for left or right, or for democracy. It is a struggle to save human society and for survival of free human beings. I came late to this understanding. Raised in deepest want of the Depression, but no to the misery of today, I was inclined to an active interest in "liberalism". I saw my party destroyed in 1968, voted for the candidate, but never went back. It took time from a busy profession career to discover what was going wrong; neither media nor universities were about to let it be known. It time I discovered a few of the modern Jeremiahs, philosophers, ethologists, and sociologists: Kirk, Babbitt, Durkheim, Chambers, Lorenz, Ropke, Morley, Tocqueville, Hayek, Weaver, Lyons, J.F.Cooper, Paul Johnson, Spencer, Bloom, and many more. The purpose of this Guide is to start you on the way. Motivation for this effort can only come from an increasing understanding of the problem, and in beginning to act, seeing things happen. Action will point to a need for more information, and further understanding. You can usually recognized a truth as something you really knew or unconsciously expected. Society and culture are the real concerns; scientists believe that people cannot survive without the physical, psychological, and spiritual support they receive from a human society and culture. Human society will cease being human when it ceases to be voluntary. Nothing is promised but the opportunity to follow the Law of Life--to seek to rise. You must begin even as you read this Guide; organize a ward tonight. Create the beginning of new society. To get a feel for the alternative, read Tocqueville's next-to-last chapter, in _Democracy in America_, "Despotism in Democracy." The State gradually accumulates all power, while destroying all bulwarks against it: church, family, private associations, Rule of Law, and private property. Then it stand forth as a great "tutelary power...alone to secure the gratification of the people...like the authority of a parent if the object were to prepare men for manhood...on the contrary it seeks to keep them in perpetual childhood...man is not shattered but softened...it compresses and stupefies, to a flock of timid animals...They are led to surrender exercise of their own will....spirit is broken...gradually losing the faculties of thinking, feeling and acting...gradually falling below the level of humanity." This is not a struggle between liberals and conservatives, or of left and right; these terms have been so corrupted that a hard-line communist has become "right" and protectors of human society are called fascists. Remember that Confucius warned that the easiest way to destroy a society is to corrupt its language. When I was in high school, everybody knew that integral to socialism was the Big Lie; we have heard the new Russian leader vow, "No more lies." Also, this is not a struggle against any minority: Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Asians, or Indians. Everybody does understand that Western civilization or culture is essentially the White man's creation--with a number of important additions from Egyptians, Semites, Hindus, Chinese, even American Indians. The essential point I want to make is that Western culture cannot be saved without saving the white man, and the white man cannot be saved without saving his culture--except as an artifact; he and his culture are an endangered species. When I was in grade school, an old grey geography book put the white race as nearly one-third of the world's population. Today it is approaching one-tenth and is falling rapidly. A speaker at an academic conference a few years back--there are certainly more today--announced that within a very few decades "what the white people want will no longer be of concern to the world". Our existence is threatened by a smothering influx of aliens, destruction of our families, and destruction of our essential cultural guidance, through the renegade tactics of "multiculturalism", relativism, education "reform", and "hate America". It is of great concern to the world, whether any race, white, black, or any other color, is eradicated, and it certainly is to us. We have as much right to exist with a culture and a territory as do Blacks, Asians, or Hispanics. If we are eradicated, as many anticipate, it will be our own fault; it will be because you refuse to help prevent it. You must understand, in the beginning, that a culture is essential guidance for the survival of a society, or a race. The Jews have always known this. And it is entirely obvious, even generally admitted, or vowed in some quarters, that current thrusts are intended to uproot our culture, our society, and our Western civilization. A document, deposited in a Gotha church steeple in 1784, reads as follows: "Our days are happiest...princes descend...and become their people's father...Religion emerges...divine...from tattered clerical gown. Enlightenment makes strides...hatreds disappear. The arts and science prosper. Artisans like artists, approach perfection...a faithful picture. Do not look down on us if you (who open this) have attained greater heights...acknowledge how much our courage has raised you...Do likewise and be happy."(4) Five years later, the French Revolution broke out and the fruits of the Enlightenment began to fall in ever increasing torrents of hatred and terror. Where can one find today the optimism and sureness of the 18th century writer? Now there is doubt that even truth exists; people fear to look 10 years ahead. I know no grandparent who does not fear for his grandchildren. Our intellectuals have become renegades, enemies of their own people and society. Their predecessors for generations back have increasingly ignored the spiritual and cultural nature of society's guiding purpose, and it essentiality for people. You must know the pain and horror of a person who has "lost all purpose in life", but that is insignificant compared to the case of a whole society that has lost purpose, and the people gallop madly like the swine of the Gadarenes. A single person may be cared for; even strangers will seek to prevent his doing harm to himself. But when a whole people lose guidance, they stampede like a frightened and maddened herd. The common people must rise up and take over the leadership from renegades who have been leading us to destruction. Footnotes:
