Dear Friends and Allies:

A few years ago, one of my dear cats was deathly ill with kidney failure. He had possibly been poisoned by contact with a household cleaning solution containing phenol. Whatever the cause, the result was heartbreaking. After the veterinarian bills hit $2,000 with no end in sight, I went looking for books to help me deal with his secondary ailments, such as abscesses, without going to the vet. I came upon The New Natural Cat..., and wished I had gone looking a decade sooner.

The New Natural Cat gave me plenty of useful information about procedures such as subcutaneous hydration, which consists of sticking a needle into your dear pet so that a saline solution called Ringer's Lactate can rehydrate the tissues and help dilute the toxins not being processed by the kidneys.

I also learned to deal with the dreaded abscesses. It was a victory to clean out a huge abscess with irrigation fluid and relieve the pressure of another problem for my dear sick cat.

My copy of The New Natural Cat is well-thumbed, highlighted and notated. It is one of my A Priority books. I keep it close by and consult it first for health and behavioral questions for my cats.

Anitra Frazier's consulting vet is Dr. Richard Pitcairn. His book, Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats, is a valuable resource. His information is complementary to and a validation of The Natural Cat. Both books emphasize keeping your pet in optimum health to avoid problems. Both books have herbal and homeopathic remedies for pet sicknesses. The animal's point-of-view is described from thorough observation of pets and their behaviors.

Like humans, pets get self-limiting sicknesses that sometimes just have to run their course while the animal is kept well-cared for. Being able to differentiate what condition can be cared for at home, and what condition needs the attention of a vet has been valuable and money-saving for me.

If you have pets in your family, I highly recommend these books.

Bless Our Companion Animals.

Sincerely,

Elena Haskins
